Trojan Battery to Build Fourth Production Facility

May 1, 2006 — Trojan Battery Co., Santa Fe Springs, Calif., announces it will begin constructing its fourth manufacturing plant this summer in Sandersville, Ga. With plans to open in September 2007, the plant is expected to initially employ more than 70 people, which may increase to more than 200 within the first three to four years. The 140,000-square-foot facility will be Trojan Battery's second plant in Georgia — the company has two other facilities in Santa Fe Springs, Calif.

Rick Godber, president of Trojan Battery, said additional production capacity is needed to meet the market demands for batteries used in aerial work platforms, golf and utility vehicles, boats and RVs, renewable energy systems, and commercial floor-maintenance machines.

Godber said expanding the company's other three plants is impractical because of space limitations. He noted that the Sandersville site between Macon and Augusta is close to major customers and some key suppliers of the company. The Trojan Battery plant will be erected on a 20-acre site with easy access to the highway between Sandersville and Augusta.
