August 20, 2008 • Nearly a year after MEC, Selma, Calif., announced plans to unveil a boom lift product line and six months after it launched the M40T telescopic boom lift at The Rental Show, the company preps for the worldwide introduction of the M46TJ jib-equipped telescopic boom at APEX in September.

The M46TJ features a 45'10” platform height and a 42-foot horizontal reach. The 6-foot jib has a 141° (+67°/-74°) vertical range of a motion and a 180° horizontal range of motion. With 6- and 8-foot platform options, the M46TJ's platforms have 500-pound unrestricted capacities.

Powered by a Ford DSG 423 DF, the unit has a 5-mph drive speed when stowed and

offers 50-percent gradeability when the unit is stowed and in four-wheel drive mode. Outside turning radius is 14'5”. Lift/lower speeds are 29 and 22 seconds, respectively. Stowed dimensions on the unit include a 7'5” width, 20'11.5” transport length, and 7'5” height. The unit weighs 12,600 pounds.

According to head-to-head comparisons MEC has made with other units on the market, the M46TJ offers a slightly larger platform, a faster stowed drive speed, greater ground clearance, and a smaller outside turning radius than its competitors.
