AEM Holds Open House for New Headquarters Office
June 27, 2006 — The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) hosted an open house on June 22 to showcase its new headquarters office to attendees and educate them on the mission and history of the association. The new office is located in the former Allis-Chalmers tractor manufacturing plant in the
“We wanted to use this opportunity to share our enthusiasm for our work and workplace with our members as well as our industry, business and community associates and friends,” said AEM President Dennis Slater.
Entering the new AEM office, visitors are greeted by dozens of detailed machinery models of all sizes and types, many of them decades old. Slater emphasized that while AEM has a rich heritage of more than 100 years of service, it is focused on the future and its leadership role helping members and the industry meet the challenges of the global marketplace.
The mood at the AEM open house was festive. Visitors entering the office got a chance to experience the vision of acclaimed local mural artist Reynaldo Hernandez executing a work in progress • a colorful mural depicting AEM's industry segments. They then received a “road map” of the office areas and the various activities they could participate in, including a golf putter and wheel-spin games that dispensed industry “facts and figures” in a fun and interactive way. Videos played across large screens showing the industry's “legacy” as a positive world contributor and of the AEM office under construction. International-themed food stations and music underscored the association's global scope.
“Our members' machines, products and services have contributed to the economic progress and quality of life in countries around the world,” he said. “In this 21st century, they increasingly use the latest technologies and product innovations to accomplish this job in the most efficient and environmentally friendly way possible.”
